The Contenders

As we continue our series on Christian Audio Resources, we venture now to the world of podcasts. If having multiple apps is not for you, then this may be what you’re looking for. I will recommend these podcasts with another disclaimer, since they may be from different camps. But these are good places for Gospel-centered, theological discussion. You can use the “Podcasts” App to search for them and add them to your subscription list. I will give short descriptions of each for your reference.

• Ask Pastor John (also an app) – “Daily audio clips of John Piper answering tough theological and pastoral questions.”

• Interviews–9Marks – Mark Dever sits down with different guests and discusses different ministry topics. “9Marks is a ministry dedicated to equipping church leaders with a biblical vision and practical resources for displaying God’s glory to the nations through healthy churches.”

• The Briefing-Albertmohler.com (also an app) – A daily podcast where Albert Mohler discusses the daily political issues that face America from a Christian worldview.

• Apologia Radio – An apologetics podcast. From their website: “Apologia Radio is a Christian radio program that aims to shake the foundation of Christian broadcasting by offering a hard-hitting, morning zoo, Gospel-centered, and culturally-relevant commentary on today’s post-modern society.”

• Alpha and Omega Ministries – A presuppositional apologetics podcast from the ministry of James White.

• The Gospel Coalition (also an app) – “The Gospel Coalition Podcast features lectures and workshops from our conferences as well as timely interviews and round table discussions on applying the gospel to the issues of our day.”

• Signposts – A podcast from the ministry of Russell Moore where he discusses the issues facing ministry, Christianity, and our culture.

• Truth for Life – This is a subscription to Alistair Begg’s daily and weekend broadcasts.

• Renewing Your Mind – From R.C. Sproul and Ligonier Ministries, “This radio broadcast has instructed listeners in the life-changing truths of historic Christianity and has kept the church community informed about pertinent issues facing believers today.

• Grace to You: Radio Podcast – From the ministry of John Macarthur, “This powerful broadcast will boost your spiritual growth by helping you understand and apply God’s Word to your life and the life of your family and Church.”

• Wayne Grudem’s Systematic Theology: This is a discussion through Wayne Grudem’s famous Systematic Theology.

• The Village Church Podcast Show – The podcast on culture, theology, and ministry from the local church where Matt Chandler serves.

• Theology Refresh – “Theology Refresh is a podcast for Christian leaders hosted by David Mathis, executive editor for John Piper and Desiring God. The podcast aims to refresh and sharpen spiritual leaders on key aspects of Christian theology for application to everyday ministry.”

• Truth in Love – A very rare name! (haha) “Biblical Solutions for the Problems People Face. A Podcast from the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors. Our Goal for this podcast is to create a resource for the church to use that is relevant, practical, and accessible. Each edition of the podcast will last about ten minutes and will provide practical solutions for the problems we face in a fallen world.”

The great part about all these podcasts is that you can go back into their podcast history and listen to past episodes. There is a wealth of resources here that will truly be helpful for you in your walk with the Lord!
