Today’s Music Monday is “Made Alive” by Citizens. There is actually an instructional video and free chord charts online.

Theological Comment(s): This song reminds of the books of Galatians and Ephesians. The first verse speaks of Christ’s redemption and our union with Him. This union with Christ is where the believers finds his identity and comfort.
Musical Comment(s): The song has a really simple progression (see instructional video). It is largely driven by the bass guitar. It has a very “bouncing” feel to it with the rhythm and keyboard/synth (it actually has an 80s feel to it). Overall I like the catchiness of the song!
Recommendation(s): I actually really enjoy listening to this song while driving. I do think the song can be sung in corporate worship, but the phrasing is a bit choppy and I can see it being a bit difficult tying the thoughts together on a PowerPoint or some form of presentation software.
